What could be better than a woman being fought over by two men? Maybe a movie that fuses together elements of chick flicks and action movies in one. In This Means War directed by McG (Charlie’s Angels, Terminator Salvation) Reese Withersppon plays Lauren, a smart businesswoman who falls for two men at once, who just so happen to be spies and best friends.
This fast moving comedy features Chris Pine (Star Trek, Just My Luck) as FDR Foster and his co-worker Tom Hardy (Inception, Marie Antoinette) as Tuck. Both prove to make Lauren’s decision difficult with their charm, but her reliable wing woman played by Chelsea Handler (“Chelsea Lately”) steals the show with her hilarious advice.
Witherspoon is on the whole movie, and gives one of her best performances since her 2002 hit, Sweet Home Alabama. Girls will enjoy the eye candy with Pine’s bright blue eyes and Hardy’s English accent, yet boys will be thrilled by the explosions and fights reminiscent of James Bond movies. This movie deserves four out of five stars for being entertaining, funny, and sweet all at once.
