Being a twin can have its perks but sometimes that kind of a bond can be too much to handle. In Adam Sandler’s latest comedy Jack and Jill, he portrays a father who works at a successful ad agency. He seems to have it all; a beautiful mansion, family, successful job yet there is something he cannot escape: his somewhat dowdy twin sister from the Bronx is coming to L.A. for Thanksgiving and easily outstays her welcome.
The striking resemblance is due to Sandler playing two roles. Directed by Dennis Dugan (Happy Gilmore, Big Daddy, Grown Ups) this crazy comedy also stars Katie Holmes (Batman Begins, Mad Money) and Al Pacino(The Godfather, Scarface).
Although the PG rating keeps the jokes a little trite, fan of Sandler’s unique comedy will enjoy all of the jokes and ridiculous situations. Between the dressing in drag and ethnic stereotypes there is a heartwarming message about being grateful for family, and especially twins.
Viewers will have some good laughs and will not be able to resist a chuckle seeing Sandler in a dress with a high pitched voice or the usual serious Pacino easily making fun of himself. Three out of five stars is deserved for the creative plotline that lacks a little in quality compared to his other movies.
