Don Hill, having served as a Republican on North Penn School District’s School Board for over 25 years, decided to run for re-election as his current four year term comes to a close, “because [he] cares about the North Penn School system and the communities that are part of the district.” The following are Don Hill’s responses to six interview questions asked of each incumbent Republican candidate and newcomer Democratic candidate who expressed a willingness to participate.
Q: Why do you believe it is important to serve on the School Board?
A: “A school board member requires the knowledge and experience needed to maintain the HIGH standards of the North Penn School District. I Have that knowledge and experience.”
Q: What are your goals for the upcoming term?
A: “The primary goal of the district is to continue to maintain the current financial policy that has been established. This will allow us to continue to provide Quality Education (as recognized by national media) at a low tax rate. This will become more difficult as we face increasing costs and reduced income.”
Q: How do you plan to get these goals accomplished?
A: “This goal can only be maintained with quality leadership from a Board of School Directors like we have today.”
Q: What experience qualifies you to hold this position?
A: “I have over 25 years experience as a Board Member and have served on all the board committees as well as being a past President of Board.
My professional experience of managing over 100 Engineers and Programmers for many years gives me the knowledge of how to work with people. School Districts are a people business.”
Q: How would you encourage local citizens to vote in this election?
A: “I would hope that the citizens in the North Penn school district would recognize and continue to support us for the job we have done in providing nationally recognized quality education and doing this while continuing to have one of the lowest tax rates in the area.”
Q: Is there any final statement regarding your candidacy you would like to make?
A: “Being a nationally recognized district requires a great team of people ( Teachers–Administrators-Staff ) which we have at North Penn that this Board is responsible for.”
