HARRISBURG, PA – The Boys & Girls Clubs of Pennsylvania has North Penn High School student named George Shipp, 17, as State Youth of the Year.
Fifteen teens from across the state of Pennsylvania competed for the award, which was presented to George Shipp in Harrisburg by the Governor of Pennsylvania, Tom Corbett. The award is the Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s premier recognition for club members. The winner must demonstrate service to the Club, as well as to the community and to family, strong moral character, and possess clear life goals.
Shipp, a junior at North Penn, is also a member of the Knights football and wrestling teams.
“It means a lot to me because the Boys and Girls Club is a place that is very near and dear to my heart. I’ve been going there since I was two years old, ” said Shipp.
