BRONX, NY-Fordham University is known as “The Jesuit University of New York City,” but the school stresses that the religious aspect is far from exclusive. In fact, the diverse religious preferences of the student body include Christianity, Islam, Atheism, Judaism, and many more. With two scenic urban campus options and a tradition of academic excellence, Fordham University offers an opportunity for successful students to expand their horizons in the city of dreams.
Fordham’s two main campuses are Rose Hill and Lincoln Center. Rose Hill is the college’s main campus located just down the street from the Bronx Zoo. In terms of the location, Rose Hill is comparable to Temple because of its position in an area where safety is a major concern. However, it is entirely gated in with security guards at all entrances making it one of the safest campuses in the country. In terms of its landscaping and architecture, Fordham Rose Hill is a beautiful campus analogous to Villanova. Lincoln center is a much smaller campus located in Manhattan’s upper west side.
Fordham is comprised of 4 undergraduate schools and 2 graduate schools which collectively account for over 50 majors. As a graduation requirement, students are required to take a core liberal arts program including at least 1 theology course such as religious philosophy, Middle Eastern Religions, or Judaism.
In terms of sports, Fordham University is Division 1 in 22 varsity sports in addition to the many intramural options offered. Additionally, Fordham has 140 clubs and offers students opportunities to volunteer at preschools and charities in downtown Bronx.
